Cohen Jirgens

MANAGING DIRECTOR

A Professional and motivated Director with over 20 years’ construction experience, Cohen has built the company from the ground up. Since reducing his time onsite 4 years ago, Cohen’s focus has been on directing the company’s projection of growth to service our fast-growing client base. He has continually reinvested in the company’s capabilities, resources and equipment to ensure that Jirgens civil stays ahead of the pack in all facets of civil construction. His philosophy is simple, “Set the Standard, Don’t Chase the Standard”. With this mindset at the fore front of all decision making, Cohen has taken the company from strength to strength, refining the strategies that ensures its success. Cohen engages directly with all sections of the business and has been fortunate enough to have a dedicated team of industry professionals join him.

As Managing Director of Jirgens Civil, Cohen has a hands-on approach with all projects and works collaboratively alongside his senior management team to execute projects beyond Client expectations.

Caroline Stevenson

DIRECTOR/WHS Manager

Caroline is a director of the company and is a highly capable professional in her own right. Caroline holds multiple Diploma’s in Business management, Account management, Human Resources and Work, Health, and Safety. Caroline works closely with the Managing Director for critical company decision making and has been responsible for the commencement and growth of JLH Water and Sewer, a subsidiary of Jirgens Civil. Caroline has been at the coal face of the company’s WHS system for many years and has worked tirelessly to ensure our company is fully compliant with current WHS legislation. Additionally, Caroline is responsible for the continual training and career development of our staff.

Cecilia Paulo – MBA

OFFICE MANAGER

Cecilia has been with Jirgens Civil since 2010 and has been a significant influence on the company’s development. Cecilia holds a Master of Business Administration, diploma in Business Accounting and Human Resources Management. Beyond the daily management of the office staff, Cecilia is the Accounts manager and a looks after claims, invoicing, cost control, purchasing, workflow schedules and payroll. Cecilia is responsible for the acquisition and financing of our expanding fleet of plant and equipment, trucks, service vehicles and survey equipment.
Cecilia facilitates the HR within the company and has assisted with the development of the Indigenous mentoring Program.

Vaughan Shearer – BEng

OPERATIONS MANAGER

Vaughan holds a Bachelors in Engineering geology and geotechnics. He cut his teeth in the jungles of Papua New Guinea leading exploratory resource drilling explorations and is comfortable with managing adversity in fierce environments. Vaughan has strong leadership skills enabling him to lead effective teams, develop strong and lasting customer relationships and to ensure customer focus is his priority. Vaughan has the ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment and he was instrumental in our company’s response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Vaughan has built strong repour with our project managers and site managers and they work efficiently and diligently to achieve the goal which he sets.

Tom Heasman – BEng

PROJECT MANAGER

Tom has over 15 years’ experience. Having worked within consulting and contracting roles across a wide range of specialties concentrated on civil, environmental, and hazardous materials. Tom started his career in the UK working as a construction labourer. Proficient in the management of complex and varied civil, remediation, environmental, demolition and asbestos projects. Tom possesses the practical and technical knowledge to undertake all aspects of project delivery.

Craig Wenberg

SITE MANAGER – MAJOR PROJECTS

Craige has over 20 years of hands-on, practical experience and provides comprehensive day to day management and problem-solving solutions to our major projects. Craige’s capabilities at a Supervisory level have allowed him to become leader for overseeing complex civil, marine and demolition works. Craige works closely with developing capable and experienced staff members. Amongst others, Craig holds a Cert 3 in Project management and Civil construction and an Exemption 38—Marine Safety qualification. His attention to detail, outstanding environmental, quality, and safety record sees him a leader among his peers.

Liam Dale

SITE MANAGER – MAJOR PROJECTS

Liam has over 20 years of hands-on practical experience and provides comprehensive day to day management and problem-solving solutions to our projects. Liam’s capabilities at a Supervisory level have led him to become a fundamental part of the business, he provides extensive skill in the undertaking of concrete infrastructure works, Drainage and complex civil works. A recognised leader amongst his peers Liam possess a sound understanding of project supervision and management expectations.

Matthew Sadler

SENIOR SURVEYOR

Matthew has over 35 years on the staff and behind the lens. His ability to identify problematic interfaces within projects is a considerable factor in our reputation. Matthew enables us to provide our clients with considerable cost savings through reduction in rework caused by poor design, coupled with the ability to pre-empt a problematic situation see’s significant reduction in down time and delay.

Kosgoda Weerasinghe – BEngC

ENGINEER / SURVEYOR

Kosgoda holds a bachelor of Engineering in civil. ‘Kozzie’ is responsible for preliminary site investigation, quantity survey and the development of BOQ’s to assist with tendering. Kos is a standout performer within the estimating team and has a proven track record for successfully tendering medium sized projects. Kos provides assistance to project managers and site supervisors to overcome significant project obstacles and provides technical information as required to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

Jirgens Civil is a family owned company that has been delivering Civil works, Road construction, Marine infrastructure, Sporting infrastructure, Drainage, Plumbing, Environmental, Demolition and Asbestos projects in the Shoalhaven and South Coast for the past 20 years.

Since our humble beginnings, our aim was to provide a range of professional civil contracting services throughout our region to a varied client base including State and local government, Dept of Defence, National Parks, commercial companies and the residential market. Thanks to the loyalty and continued support of our clients, suppliers, and subcontractors we have grown to be a leader within the Civil space throughout the Shoalhaven and South Coast regions. We have developed strong client relationships built upon collaboration and transparency which has helped set us apart for our competitors.
